KWong Yes, I noticed a slight difference in version number (1808 vs 1812). However, neither has templates.
I'm not sure if it's the KMS license setting that determines what templates are installed or if we can set that somehow.
Is it possible to just install them manually after?

- This is regular .docx that you can modify. Useful but they are not "template" format like others.

Going through those links brought up another point, the search bar is grayed out/disabled. So, you can't search the online database for templates either.

I found these instructions online to enable it:

Open office product, go to...
File>Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings>Privacy Options. Make sure "Allow Office to connect to the Internet" is checked.

If we enable the search box by "allowing office to connect to the internet", is there a chance microsoft can recognize the KMS activation and disable it?

rickyy1 MS can recognize the KMS license but I think they have no reason to disable it if is is just a feature.

Volume Activation provides two different models for completing volume activations: Key Management Service (KMS) and Multiple Activation Key (MAK). KMS allows organizations to activate systems within their own network. MAK activates systems on a one-time basis, using Microsoft's hosted activation services.

So allowing office 2019 to connect to the internet is legal and let you have all update and add templates.

I guess, when you install office 2019, you have chosen not allow windows 10 connect to internet, that cause some of office 2019 templates missing not install.

That makes sense, however, when you enable that feature, you are agreeing to some privacy options (I assume that basically allows them to check your activation status/method)?
If they see that Office is enabled via kms8.msguides.com:1688, can they send a file or something that effectively disables your copy of Office?

That might have been it. I might have disabled the internet connection during the install. I'll try doing a clean install while connected to see if that makes a difference.

I'll let you know how it goes.

The re-install with internet connected didn't help.

However, the solution was in fact in one of those links you provided earlier. I tried enabling the setting I asked about earlier:
File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings... >
Enable "Let Office connect to online services from Microsoft to provide functionality that's relevant to your usuage and preferences."

Went to create a "New" project and all the default templates are there:

If I disable it, they go away unless I've already created a project with a template, then a local copy is saved.

Just not sure if enabling privacy options is a good idea or not. If there is a way for them to see it's enabled via msguides.com KMS server and they can disable your install, then it's not worth enabling that feature.

Don't worry, Microsoft don't know anything about it. Activation is go through Kms server. It is legal to use.Only update from Microsoft.

Yes, my windows 10 came with my computer so I have the windows 10 update set to automatic. Is that a bad idea?

from windows 7, update shown up, but let me choose install or not. Just like when the 1809 come out, a lot of problem,I can stop it to install until Microsoft fix the problem.

I used to do the same on Windows 7. It's a good idea, I think I'll do the same for Windows 10 too.
Do you do the for your office updates or do you keep them on auto?

Windows 10 setting decided the method to update both window 10 and office 2019. I prefer can choose instead of automatic downlaod,

Windows 10 too much advertisement。 I don't like windows 10 lay out, I change it look like windows 7. That is the best windows system, but stop provide security support update one year later, so make decision to change to windows 10.

More than 100mb single update, I wait for 3 days. Google search to see review before make decision to download.
